Whatsapp meteoric rise to the tippy-top of cross-platform messenger apps is no surprise - everyone we know is using it. The company has been vague about specific user numbers though, WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum hinted back in April at the All Things D conference that his service had a bigger user base than Twitter"s 200 million users and processed more messages compared to Facebook (18 billion).
